LoVe @ 21

While it is true that Valentine's day is famously celebrated by lovers, it could also be an occassion to celebrate other kinds of love. Today, we can show our love for our children, parents, friends, siblings, relatives, neighbors, and of course, love for God.

For our children:

                          Daphne and Darren

"Try to see your child as a seed that came in a packet without a label. Your job is to provide the right environment and nutrients and to pull the weeds. You can’t decide what kind of flower you’ll get or in which season it will bloom." - Anonymous

That means our child doesn't have to be, or do, anything in particular to earn our love. We love our kids exactly as they are, unconditionally.

For the love of God and other people:

Sounds cliche to others but our only way to love God is to obey these : “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39.

Loving others includes acceptance, honoring, respecting, and supporting each other. No expectations, no disappointments.

However, if you are having discomforts inside :  Heal Your Heart, Heal Your Life . The only way out is through. Breathe. Forgive and forget. Whatever pain that is in your heart, you won't need to hang on to...let it go!

"The ultimate lesson all of us have to learn is unconditional love, which includes not only others but ourselves as well” -- Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

And of course for the love of my life, SYKE:

I'm so thankful and blessed for brewing my coffee though you're not a coffee drinker, for rubbing and massaging my aching body every night, for fetching me when I have 'gimiks', for paying my bills, and most especially for making me laugh so hard even in wee hours.

When all else fails, you're my knight in shining armor. When I'm down, you're my clown. When I'm happy, you're my buddy.  Again and again, thank you so much for all the patience, understanding, caring, and all the love in the world. I love you Tarty!

Happy 21st anniversary as sweethearts!

Despicable Me Christmas Salu-salo

Traditionally, BPI/MS celebrates Christmas with a bang! It is the most awaited time of the year to glam up in our best party outfits and showcase our talents. But after a series of unfortunate events that hit our country, positive changes on how Filipino Christmas celebration has become today. Instead of the usual glamorous parties and celebrations, many of us donated our budgets and even our personal stuffs to our brethren who were in need of help.

However even with so much loss, importance of the holiday has not diminished. Christmas would never be the same if we cannot celebrate it with our loved ones in any way we can. Ensuring that we won’t miss the most wonderful time of the year, Underwriting together with Bonds and Agency Services Department, had a Despicable Me themed “salu-salo”.  We shared a festive meal, played various games, and exchanged presents. It was a simple yet meaningful celebration which reminds us of the message from the manger: humility, hope, and love!

Nothing makes me happier than a chocolate. Seriously. As much as I try to become more healthy and fit, I keep craving on to sweets.

Forget the jewelry. Forget the bags. Forget the shoes, the fancy dinners, the steaks. Chocolate is the best. I can't help it :-(

Beloved Weekend in Baguio

January 17-19, 2014

The Mission Core Group (MCG) of Couples For Christ (CFC) annual retreat was held again in Camp John Hay, Baguio City. This year is the 33rd year of CFC which also marks the 3rd year that we have a Marian theme. It was a 4-talk weekend retreat called The Beloved Weekend. Our theme for this year is BEHOLD and PONDER, taken in John 19:26 which says "Woman, behold your Son..." and in Luke 2:51 which also says "...and kept all these things in her heart".

This retreat started on a Friday night. It showcased the talents of the new born composers. As one East A team, we rendered and interpreted the song "Through It All". It was composed by our very talented singer-composer Bro. Eric Fresnosa, our Cluster head as well.

This retreat thought us and reminded us to ponder the family of love since love is what holds families together. We must, therefore, make our family a civilization of love and prayer. Also, ponder in the Manger's message : Jesus chose to be born poor. By this means, we give the poor hope. It is our personal commitment to help the poor. Behold, the new mission. This is our commitment to go on missions. To be one with the Catholic Church and to take giant step to evangelize. This has a great implications in the spirituality of CFC.

Our theme invites us to continue our faith journey through meaningful reflection on Mary's pondering heart, the life of her son, Jesus Christ, and our role in the greater mission. It also compels us to journey as ONE COMMUNITY - one day after another.

Together let us behold and ponder CFC!
